Welcome to the unknown.
Welcome to the unfamiliar.
Welcome to inner peace and tranquility.
Welcome to joy and happiness.

We dedicate this website to all those who are seeking help. As teachers, we see our task in guiding people to happiness and inner peace, which, in the vision we have, leads to freedom and world peace. Many years of study, including eight years in the U.S.A., gave us tremendous experience in different techniques, an experience which we would like to share with you, whether you work on a physical, spiritual, emotional, or mental level.

Our vision includes research on and the teaching of the best self-awareness techniques available, in a safe and creative environment for our students. Stress and the various forms in which it manifests itself in the body can be seen as one of the most dangerous factors in life: heart problems such as palpitations up to heart attacks; respiratory problems such as breathlessness, asthma or even fainting; physical tension such as hypertension or hypotension, ailments leading to bad posture, chronic backache, fibromyalgia; high blood pressure; digestive problems which, in extreme cases, cause nausea or vomiting. Even a high cholesterol level or diabetes count among the stress related diseases of our time.

These physical manifestations mirror our thinking. We propose that our way of thinking directly influences our way of life. Continuous separation of mind and body causes disease and depression, continuous coordination of mind and body creates health and happiness. Changes in thinking patterns will automatically lead to postural changes.

We at the Weiss-Institute work with techniques which help you deal with stress- related problems and postural problems through a special focus on breathing. We work on programs which emphasize everybody's individual needs, expectations and possibilities of learning. We work to enhance performance on a daily basis, as musicians, athletes, fitness enthusiasts, children, seniors, adults, at the working place, at the computer, in the car, during everyday activities. The workshops we developed proved to be the starting point for students to find a better coordination of mind and body leading to freedom, inner peace, focus, health and joy.

We primarily base our work on the Alexander technique and the 'two-mirror-technique' he used. We got introduced to the breathing work of Carl Stough. Our experience in music, Eutony, Feldenkrais, Tai Chi, Nautilus training, and kinesiology gives us additional knowledge. It led Josef Weiss to the development of his own techniques "neuromuscular Balance" (hereafter nmB), "nmB - Stretching", "Body-thinking-system", "Computer - H.O.P.E.", and the "Josef Weiss - piano technique". It led Maria Weiss to be one of a handful of people to write her doctoral thesis, written at Boston University, on the topic of "The Alexander Technique and the Art of Teaching Voice". Her fundamental knowledge on how to deal with voice issues including vocal faults and disorders, made her one of the leading teachers in the field of Voice and the Alexander Technique.

We always work on the whole person. Therefore, sometimes it may seem that we do not directly address your specific problem; however, we want to eliminate the interference which causes your problem. We work on the source of the cause. Observation and replacing old habits with new patterns will lead to fundamental changes in you. You will have what we call an active change. Active change also means that you decide how much, when and how you want to change.

We will guide you.

We lead you to the unfamiliar and unknown.

We will help you transform your negative habits into positive habits.

We make your learning experience an exciting adventure and a fun exploration of and to your self.

Let the quest to freedom, inner peace, focus, health and joy start today.
