General Background
Maria's journey to the Alexander Technique stems from her
love of both music and teaching. After many years of advanced
music training and a professional career as both a teacher
and performer of voice and flute, Maria also began to explore
courses in body movement. Her goal was to improve her performance
ability, teaching technique and her health.
Moving to the United States in 1997 from her native Germany,
Maria came across the Alexander Technique as a positive
solution to these goals. "All this changed my life, my singing
style, even the range and color of my voice," says Maria.
"It also helped me to have a wonderful pregnancy and birth
of my second child, a new view of daily life issues and
better communication with my family."
As a teacher of the Alexander Technique, certified since
2001, Maria uses the technique to help her students achieve
positive changes in their lives and professions.

"Strange as it may seem, I have always found
that a pupil who uses himself wrongly will continue
to do so in all his activities, even after the wrong
use has been pointed out to him."
